Yes, I'm noticing more and more that the approaches to government of Abbott and Putin are starting to merge. Maybe Putin is actually following Abbott. Torture refugees? Great idea but do it out of view.
First sign, conduct as much as possible in secret. Both do that.
Second, attack or remove Human Rights? Yes, Abbott does that and Putin always has and is removing the item from the Russian spectrum.
Third. Putin sat mildly on the sidelines when his Opponent was murdered within sight of the Kremlin. Abbott actually set up the Royal Commission which was focused entirely on his Opponent.
Both are lurching further to the right day by day. Even some of Abbott's Front Bench can't stand it any more. Predict explosions here.
Both thrive in cold weather. Tony wears his speedos underneath that big coat apparently.
