Hi Y'all
This is a story of people who claim to have depression but some do not at all.
I have had depression, in various guises, since 1961 and I'm 65. Yes it's been hard but I want and need no sympathy. Thanks if you thought about that but it isn't necessary.
I've actually learnt to live with my illnesses and have been OK for over 10 years now. But it was fucking hard work and took a long time. I must admit I avoided treatment as much as I could until 15 years ago. Drinking for 25 years etc. Brilliant huh? Anyway, I found a great shrink and I'm doing well now, still got depression but I've learnt how to ignore it, if you like. Too detailed for me to write here.
I started using the internet for help etc about 15 years ago now. As a newbie initially, needing advice from others like me.
I have to say that the internet is the best thing that ever happened for depression sufferers as you find you are NOT the only one. Which is what you feel.
For about 10 years I wrote on forums on a range of forums and moderated a couple as well. I learnt fast from others who knew the answers I needed. I became someone whose advice was sought after and I had a pretty good success rate with those seeking my advice. All those sites were moderated. Which means that someone reads all posts and removes garbage etc from ratbags who want to hurt. Or, like here on Google, people who don't have depression at all and just want to hurt others.
A particular bastard on Google is someone using the name "Brook Side.... Can't recall the end of his name, think it's Brookside.
He is a particularly nasty little boy. Believe this or not, he wrote a post to start a thread and wrote he and 10 mates compared dick sizes and his was the smallest so he cut off his ball sack. Sorry about that sickening info. Obviously he hadn't done any of that, just wanted attention and he has simply run everyone down and abused everyone since. I'm strong and can deal with cretins like him but there are many who he would scare.
What I want to say to all reading is that if you know ANYONE who has depression please tell them to NOT use the Google Communities for help. They will be abused and ignored if they do. Which has a worse effect on us. There are many good sites outside Google for depression sufferers and they are all moderated, meaning someone or several someones get rid of the crap like that bastard above wrote. They make it safe for users and insist on all being anonymous.
The Google sites are by far the worst I have seen in my 15 years of using such sites. Apart from cretins like Side whatever above most of those who ARE depressed are determined to stay depressed. I know not why but they do, amazes me as all I wanted to do was get better, for all that time.
Summary. DON't use Google Depression sites and if you meet Brook Side, avoid him.
