Vale Tangles, Max Walker, Australian cricket legend

Hi y'all,

It's been a while since I wrote a blog post but I just had to as a tribute to Tangles, Max Walker.

He was a fast, medium bowler, right hand and played first change behind Lillee and Thomson back in the 70's and 80's,early.

Aussies are sometimes good at giving nicknames to people and Max got a great one. "Tangles". Based on his run in to deliver the ball to the batsman, his feet could only be described as a "tangle". They crissed and crossed but he was able to bowl beautifully despite that. I suspect it put batsmen off, distracted them.

Most of you have never heard of him, only male Aussies would really remember him.

After his cricket playing career for Australia finished he became a commentator and Max was one of those guys who just ripped out a tall tale whenever he opened his mouth. Endless entertainment and he was SO popular on the dinner speech circuit.

He never changed either. He was the same guy when he started up, to his passing of Cancer.

He couldn't escape that one, or talk him out of it. I bet the gates of the Big Oval upstairs are regretting his passing as he will be talking endlessly while he's there, which is eternity. He was funny as hell but eternity? Hearing the same stories? Well, shut up Max.
