Can you believe the fuck up over the back packers tax here in Australia? I still don't believe what a bloody mess these politicians, all Parties have made of a simple matter that should have taken 5 minutes to resolve, not 18 months.
Turn Bullshit and Morrie's son were by far the worst, laziest and most ignorant of all.
All it is in reality is deciding what rate to tax overseas workers at while they work here, in particular, fruit picking. In previous years the rate had been zero as it's a low paying job and nobody works doing it for 12 months of the year. No fruit you see!
But T and M decided for some ungodly reason to make that rate 32.5%. No one in their right mind would work for that money. Low wages less 32% less room and board. Shit, they'd be there for no pay really. So of course the farmers have few to no one to pick their crops this year. Simply because these short sighted bastards didn't think of those that will pay for their laziness. The farmers, and the people who buy fruit. You and me.
A lot of arguing and for some reason T and M decided to reduce that rate to 19.5%. For no particular reason really. You see Canada and New Zealand have a rate of 10.5% so if you were deciding where to go based on a few cents different per dollar you would not choose Australia.
SO one of the Independent Senators suggested 10.5% and the other minor Parties got on board and all agreed on 10.5%. Same as the other countries.
T and M said NO WAY they would drop their rate, and then proceeded to drop it to 15%. Yeah, hypocrisy is NO hurdle for these wankers.
With an afternoon left the Opposition Parties had come up to 13% but the government would NOT move. They were in charge. If nothing changed the rate would default to 32.5% and nobody would go fruit picking they moaned, but still did nothing.
The government has claimed THEY negotiated a final answer but they didn't at all. At lunchtime the Green's Leader went to THEM and offered to agree with 15% if the Govt came down on the grab of 95% of the worker's superannuation. T and M jumped at that and it was passed.
Labor had offered to negotiate but M's response was "Labor can go jump". That's a true negotiator at work all right.
SO it was passed and now is law. The problem is the government gets less out of this deal than if they had just agreed to 13%. You see they also had to agree to put another $100 million, of OUR money, into land improvement, whatever that is.
So, NO the government did NOT negotiate. Someone had to go to THEM and make an offer.
Yet Paul Kelly, supposedly Australia's top political commentator writes "Turn bullshit has mastered the art of negotiation.
You fucking work it out. It's clear the people affected by this tax matter not at all, it's about their image.
It's not the best to be the bearer of bad tidings but I must inform these politicians, and Paul Kelly, they have maintained their image as ditherer's, ignorant, stubborn morons and nobody you'd ever vote for again.
Turn Bullshit takes the cake though with his statement that Labor wanted to pay these rich backpackers more than Island workers. Even he looked confused when he said it. You see, if these bloody people are rich THEY WOULD NEVER PICK FRUIT. NOR WOULD THEY BE BACK PACKERS. YOU MORON Turn Bullshit.
And the absolute last criteria for deciding where these people would holiday would be fruit picker's tax rates. For fuck's sake you idiots!
