My new photo

Hi there,

The profile photo box ain't big enough for this shot really.

These are two of the Devil's Marbles, a unique rock formation between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. It's such a surprise to see them. They are glorious to see up close and clamber around. Most people don't know of them but you can see they are the same colour as Ayer's Rock, same material.

I really loved that spot and have to stop every time I used to drive that way. So, about 30 times I've visited. It's a huge area and some of the boulders are enormous, much taller than a human and many different groupings. I liked these two as they are not dependant on each other and, if one was so inclined one could title it "I got big, red balls.". They are right next to the highway too, so no big diversion.

Truly the Southern half of the Northern Territory has it all while the north boasts a swanmp, flood zome populated by crocodiles, Katherine Gorge which is marvelous and the hot springs at Mataranka. They used to be fabulous to climb into and swim around. warm water, in the middle of nowhere.

But these days I wouldn't go there as it houses an enormous bat population and they do now spread a fatal disease. On the east Coast bats are killed on sight because of that but they still thrive in so many places.

There's so many sights you would take forever to see them. I've been to the top of Mt Zonder which is in the south west corner, close to where the 2 States and the NT meet. At that corner you can have a foot in either State and a hand in the Territory. 3 at once!! Got the photos, or used to before my ex wife destroyed all my posessions. Bitch. So many memories. They are what I miss more than her, ever. That was 30 years ago now and these places are still in me but the marriage has faded with time. These places I knwe from when I was a young boy.

If I  could take you all on a trip we wouldn't go further north than the Marble's. Yes, we'd go to the Rock. It's a must. You have no idea how big it is., Last time I climbed it there was a stream, trees growing, a land of it's own up there. God knows how trees grew up there. Wind I suppose. But it's just so massive and memorable. I've walked all around it, as a boy when energy was always on tap, went into every cave and so on. There's so much to see, right next door to the Olgas.

Not far away, 3 - 500 miles you find Palm Valley, yes palm trees grow there, King's Canyon named clearly due to size. We slept there for a few nights. Just us and the stars and wandering wild animals, harmless. No crocs there!!!.

And around Alice itself you could do a gap a day and fill up 2 weeks of exploring. Go north and you see a swamp or nothinbg if it's dry, just scrub. And Corroborree Rock too, supposed to have been used to make men of boys. Ouch.
