Do you remember the first time you fell in love?

Hi there,

On a much nicer note this time, love.

That first love is so special isn't i?. I had a girlfriend I hung out with when 13 but the girl I fell for at 14 remains the most memorable time for love in my life. Sure, love for your kids is much deeper and more instant but that first human to human love is unbelievably exciting and satisfying. Not talking about sex here as this girl and I never got to that. Of course that was on our minds but we were so young.

But the first looks at each other, messages from other kids telling you and so on, is magic. Makes you feel wonderful. So you meet and look into each others eyes, both knowing already through friends that you are keen on each other. Wow.

Holding hands, that first kiss and many more that follow. The outings in groups and then just the two of you, all developing a deeper feeling than you've had before. Soon you can't even wait to get to school (and that's a shock to all), just so you can see her and chat during breaks and hang out after school for a while.

That was you Dianne.

I recall being pretty much  struck dumb around her but she's told me not long ago that I was certainly not as quiet as I remember.

Endless weekends of just being together, as part of a bunch of kids, movies Saturday night, who cares what movie is showing, we went. Sundays. Us boys even started going to the biggest church because most of the girls went every week. Just another chance to be with them of course. Sunday afternoon was usually music and all sorts of locations. Swimming pool, A park, a drive with a ton of kids all in the one car. Then more music. And the hatred of the sun going down as it meant the end of the weekend and the girls had to be home around then.

So sweet and innocent those times, I can never forget them, about 18 months with her and then my family left town. Thought I would die without her and it felt like it too, so alone.. New town/city was freezing cold, no friends, lonely, letters written every day finally fading away. I walked around that city a lot, by myself, just to keep from moping. Friends and girlfriends did arrive but it was never the same as that first time.

I wonder what would have happened if we hadn't left town? I'll never know so it can remain as my sweetest memory and never be ruined by a breakup, cheating or any of that. We were in love for the year after I left but reality takes over doesn't it? Absence does NOT make the heart grow fonder at all. Rather, you adjust and find new people and girlfriends to be with.

Life, never what you expect huh? Hasn't been for me, that is certain.

The plus side of all that is you get to fall in love again, and maybe again. I did it 6 times, such a wonderful time in one's life that waiting to find out if it's mutual and getting to know them. The best time of all, that, waiting to see each other the next time and so on. I couldn't be more thankful for having that feeling so often but it's that first love I miss, still and always will.

Has to be a song with that, right. Here it is "

Lyrics Falling In Love Again

It's talked a-bout gets know-ing looks
It's sung in songs and read in books
It's ev-erywh-ere around the world
It hap-pens every day

Fall-ing in love a-gain Fall-ing in love a-gain
I've lost my heart a-gain in a won-der-ful world of my own

It's wondering why she is late for late night drinks in street cafes
It's what to do and where to go when she is not around
Fall-ing in love a-gain Fall-ing in love a-gain
I've lost my heart a-gain in a won-der-ful world of my own

There's times when you're up and there's times
when you're down just think-ing of her ev-'ry day
but if I had to choose be-tween this and the world
I'd choose to feel this way
Wo-wo-wo-wo

It's special times that lovers know

that feeling that stops and then it grows
They realize and then they know
that feeling's got a name
Fall-ing in love a-gain
Fall-ing in love a-gain

I've lost my heart a-gain in a won-der-ful world of my own"
