Free trade deals - how do they benefit you?

Hi there,

Tony Rabott has been boasting loud and long about his success in signing free trade deals. In truth the negotiations for these started under Howard, were continued under Labor and he just happens to be in the chair when they are signed. So actually it is a bi partisan aim and achievement for which he attempts to hog all the credit.

He has boasted about millions of dollars and millions of jobs for Australians but he has given no details. When will we ever hear about the details? When we are being sacked is when.

Have you wondered why you know nothing about these deals? I have. He says it will cause shopping to be cheaper for Australian consumers. Have you asked how this will come to be? How can goods become cheaper?

Quite simply really, we buy them from India and China where the workers are paid a pittance to create the goods.

So,think a bit further and ask yourself what happens to the companies that we were getting these goods from? They will be unable to compete with Asian prices and wages at all and will go broke or pay their workers what they get in China and India. Simple isn't it.

Just Abbott's backdoor method of introducing WORK CHOICES by another method. What you earn now will be eroded and disappear in the face of the competition from these countries. Of course Politician's benefits will not decrease, just yours, ours.

Why did we not have these deals before and why did we have tariffs? Again, simple. We had them to ensure our own products were better value than the cheap ones from Asia etc. Thus their companies could not afford to sell here and our companies stayed in business.

These deals are clearly about destroying Australia's ability to support itself. Under Abbott's leadership all we will have that others want is coal and uranium. Which kills this planet..

Find the flaws in what I have written and defend these free trade deals. We have plenty already you know. Have you noticed everything getting cheaper until now? No, you haven't. It's a con job and we all will suffer because of it.
