Australia's election date manipulation

Hi Y'all,

As an Aussie I have got to say I am totally sickened by the cynical and hypocritical way our governments play political games with upcoming election dates.

It is in the Prime Minister's hands to decide when to call an early election and while that requires the Governor General's agreement, that has never been denied, as we learnt in 1975 when the OPPOSITION called for an early election. You all know how disgusting that was so I won't rehash it.

The current Federal Government is daily sparking speculation about when the election will be, due by about September this year. Malcolm Turnbull is playing with the media so you could say the media is whipping up this speculation for a story.

There's no doubt they are doing just that but it is Turnbull who could kill that story in one sentence, but refuses to do so. He is humming and Haaing about potential dates and contemplating a double dissolution which dismisses both Houses of Parliament at one time. His government, including the two years Tony Abbott was PM, has not produced a full Budget in the entire time they have been in government and this year is starting to look doubtful as well.

Which simply tells all and sundry they have no ideas other than to hit the poorer taxpayers and ramp up taxes everywhere. They have no plan, no policies at all except "How do we win again?"

This has to stop and we must go to fixed election dates as many governments have to give the public some faith in the system. This constant checking of polls and what dates might suit the incumbents is a total disregard for any semblance of democracy.

Stop it and push for fixed date elections for all our governments.
