Having a slightly busy day on here for once. Been going through all my songs and editing as required, making song lists etc.
That's not what I was thinking about.
I heard during the week a summary of a survey of certain aspects of life in India today. This summary was done by the Government of India as the latest Prime Minister they have actually wants to bring ALL of India up to the same level. Which all previous government's have ignored. And so does most of the media, preferring to promote the small groups of those developing. Relatively small given their population.
The bit of the report that gelled with what I saw when I was there, years ago now. It was a summary of the problems India has with hygiene. Some stats to tell you how it really is?
. Over 60% of all Indians have NEVER had a TOILET at where they live. Fact. As a result the women without one at home wait till after dark to relieve themselves as the custom for that 60% is to let it rip anywhere in public. Many women will NOT use the public toilets as they are firstly disgusting and secondly dangerous, men waiting etc.
These women will not throw their sanitary pads into those toilets. They throw them away outside. Can you imagine living like that? Remembering too that rape is a past time for most Indian men, any one of them regardless of background.
Yet, these same men walk around holding hands and making any women walk behind them. We went to a Western movie there and when a man kissed a woman the audience laughed hysterically. We had no idea of their weird customs.
. Second fact? that 60% coverts to 750,000 people who have no toilet, as well as no electricity, no running water. Their country is, in fact, the one with the biggest group or percentage of people living in these conditions.

Don't ever believe anyone who tells you how advanced India is. It's the least advanced of all.
